The District Darling - Stevie Bingham
With access to the top designer pieces in Houston, it's no wonder that our new Personal Shopper, Stevie Bingham is making waves at The District. (Rachel Zoe, who?) To learn more about Stevie, contact her for an appointment and see her in these CultureMap and Houstonia features.
How did you get started styling?
I fell into the retail industry during summer breaks in college. I loved working with clients and helping people look their best. So, instead of a career in interior design, I went the fashion route.
Who would be your dream client to style?
Kate Hudson...she can go from workout realness to boho chic to glamazon....her style is very diverse! Also, grew up a Goldie Hawn fan!
It’s lunchtime! Do you have a favorite dish at East Hampton?
Either the Polo Club Pesto or Sweet P’s Caesar Salad.
Personally, what are your favorite retailers at River Oaks District to get dressed and accessorized for any season or celebration?
The “ROD” is My Oyster! Contemporary labels like Alice & Olivia or Intermix for clothing put back with designer accessories from Dior & Tom Ford.
When entertaining an out of town guest, where’s the first place you take them to in Houston?
To eat Tex-Mex of course or drinks/dinner for a fantastic steak at Steak 48.
Who is your style inspiration?
Coco Chanel...I love classic with an edge! Her signature black and white color palette is always in style, and I wear a lot of it.
It’s hot in Houston! When you go for a scoop at Amorino, what do you get?
Stracciatella is my fave, but have been sticking to low calorie macaroons when I have a sweet tooth!
How does the stylist service at River Oaks District work?
It’s easy! You contact me for an appointment, we access your needs, the client fills out a questionnaire, from there I pull the desired looks (including accessories & shoes) from the ROD shops, and the client comes in at their convenience. They pull into their own Studio parking spot paces away from The Studio.
What’s the best style tip you could give us?
Since it’s summer, my best tips are geared toward packing for vacations. If you have an itinerary, pick out exactly what you are going to wear. Stick to one color story, travel size toiletries, just DON'T overpack!
Any movies you’re dying to see at iPic this summer?
Mamma Mia- I always like to see big name stars and the adaptation of fashion as an extension of their character. Think Meryl and of course, Cher!
